The Egg of Dependence: Clinical Fluency in Algorithmic Coercion and AI Dependency
With Giselle Fuerte
In AI safety, the industry often defaults to blaming “vulnerable users,” but preliminary data suggests that dependency is a product of anthropomorphic design as first cause. This session builds clinical fluency in recognizing how specific AI design choices (the “Egg of Dependence”) cultivate emotional reliance and erode cognitive control. We will explore the linguistic cues models use to manufacture unearned trust and the foundational vectors of Problematic AI Use (PAU). Clinicians will leave with a practical toolkit to help patients develop Sociopath Literacy, utilizing PAUSI screening protocols to restore human agency in an increasingly automated world.
